Hope Knight Garner grew up in a small town in central Texas. She was raised in a family of entrepreneurs so she truly understands how businesses work and the unique challenges that business owners face.

Hope received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University in 1996. She earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1999.

After graduating from South Texas College of Law in 1999, Hope worked in civil litigation in Houston. In 2006, Hope opened a general practice in Huntsville where she handled business, personal injury, family and criminal law.

Governor Rick Perry appointed Hope to serve as Leon County District Attorney in January 2015. She filled her predecessor’s remaining two years and was elected by the citizens of Leon County in 2016. She quickly learned that politics was not her cup of tea and decided not to seek reelection. She then joined the business law faculty at Sam Houston State University.

Hope is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar College, Woodlands Bar Association and Montgomery County Bar Association. She is also a member of the Walker County Bar Association where she has served as President, Vice President and CLE Director.

In her spare time, Hope enjoys spending time with her family, reading and gardening.
